Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how OnlyLocals ("we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use onlylocals.ai (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account and profile: your name, email, and anything you add to your profile (headline, bio, skills, interests, website, social links, photo).
• Location: if you set your location or use "use my location," we store your approximate coordinates privately to show what's near you and to route you to the right area. Your precise location is never shown publicly, only an approximate distance.
• Activity: events you RSVP to or attend, tickets you buy, connections you make, and your Social IQ activity.
• Payments: paid ticket transactions are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation and limited details (such as amount), but we do not collect or store your full card number.
• Community import: for our founding Katy–Cypress community, some profiles were pre-created from public GroupMe group information so members could claim them.
• Device and usage: standard log and cookie data used to keep you signed in and operate the Service.

2. How we use information

• To run the Service: your profile, events, connections, and tickets.
• To show nearby events and suggest locals you may want to connect with (this uses automated matching, including AI).
• To process ticket payments and payouts through Stripe.
• To keep the Service safe, prevent abuse, and comply with law.
• To communicate with you about your account and the Service.

3. When we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the Service:

• Other members: your public profile and public activity (events you're attending, connections) are visible to other members. Your email, precise location, and private details are not.
• Event hosts: when you buy a ticket or RSVP, the host can see that you are attending.
• Service providers that help us operate: Supabase (hosting and database), Stripe (payments), Google Maps (location and maps), and Anthropic (AI features). They process data on our behalf under their own terms.
• Legal and safety: when required by law or to protect people and the Service.
• Business transfers: if OnlyLocals is involved in a merger or acquisition, information may transfer as part of that deal.

4. Your location, kept private

We treat location carefully. Your exact coordinates are stored in a private, owner-only record and are used only to compute approximate distances and match you to an area. Other members never see your address or exact location.

5. Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in and remember your chosen location. You can control cookies in your browser, but some features may not work without them.

6. Your choices and rights

You can view and edit your profile at any time, and you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing hello@onlylocals.ai. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the CCPA or GDPR.

7. Data retention and security

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it, though no system is perfectly secure.

8. Children

The Service is for adults (18+). It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
